The refreshed 2018 Jeep Cherokee made its debut at the 2018 NAIA Show in Detroit, ahead of its UK launch later this year.
It features several exterior design tweaks that include the front fascia, bonnet, LED headlamps, daylight running lamps and fog lamps. The updated interior receives high-gloss accents in what looks to be a practical and comfortable environment.
The new Jeep also receives the latest Fiat Chrysler Automobile's Uconnect system, which brings Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and the choice of 7.0- or 8.4-inch touchscreens with pinch-and-zoom capability.
There's an all-new 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine now in the engine mix, offering 270hp and 400Nm of torque. It joins the repeated 3.2-litre V6 and 2.4-litre Multiair2 power units. All engine options may be paired to the nine-speed automatic transmission.
The new Jeep Cherokee offers a choice of three 4x4 systems: Jeep Active Drive I, Jeep Active Drive II and Jeep Active Drive Lock, all of which have been enhanced for improved 4x4 capability in all weather conditions. Jeep Cherokee maintains its place as the benchmark mid-size SUV with rear-axle disconnect technology that results in reduced energy loss when 4x4 capability isn't needed, while improving fuel efficiency.
More detailed product specifications for the vehicles offered for the UK/EU markets will be available closer to commercial launch - WG.
