The all-new 2018 Mercedes-Benz A-Class is now on sale with first UK deliveries scheduled for May. There are three initial trim grades of SE, Sport and AMG Line and three engine options: A180d, A200 and A250. All are paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission.
Standard kit on the range-entry SE includes dual seven-inch displays including a central touchscreen with MBUX multimedia system and 'Hey Mercedes' voice activation, comfort suspension, 16-inch alloys, DAB radio, leather and fabric upholstery, active lane keep assist, speed limit assist, keyless-entry-go function and air conditioning. The Sport trim line adds LED head lights, 17-inch alloys wheels and climate control.
AMG Line customers will enjoy 18-inch AMG alloys, AMG body styling and a three-spoke sports steering wheel.
The 180d uses a 1.5-litre diesel engine which produces 116hp and 260Nm of torque. It delivers up to 68.9mpg on the combined cycle, with a top speed of 125mph. It can sprint from 0 to 62 mph in 10.5 seconds.
The A200 is powered by a 1.4-litre petrol engine with an output of 163hp and 250Nm. It can deliver up to 51.4mpg. The A250 has a petrol 2.0-litre engine which can generate 224hp and 350Nm. It can achieve 45.6 mpg on the combined cycle. It can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 6.2 seconds and has a top speed of 155 mph.
As is the norm these days, options are bundled into packs. The 'Executive' pack costs £1,395 and upgrades the standard seven-inch central touchscreen media display to a 10.25-inch item, as well as adding active parking assist with Parktronic, heated front seats and a mirror package.
For £2,395, customers can specify the 'Premium' pack which adds a 10.25-inch cockpit display – creating a widescreen effect, ambient lighting, illuminated door sills, an upgraded sound system and rear armrest.
'Premium Plus' adds memory function for the driver and front passenger seats, multi beam LED head lights with adaptive high beam assist and a panoramic sunroof.
An 'Advanced Navigation' pack introduces augmented reality into the onboard satellite navigation. Using a camera located at the top of the windscreen, the infotainment screen overlays the navigation display with the actual road ahead, making for clearer, more obvious navigation. Also included is traffic sign recognition. The Advanced Navigation package costs £495 and is only available in conjunction with the 'Executive', 'Premium' or 'Premium Plus' packs.
