Mazda has announced the availability of a Z-Sport variant of its popular fourth-generation MX-5 two-seater sports car. However, there will only 300 cars destined for the UK and sales order books open on 1st March next year.

The Z-Sport special edition MX-5 will feature a cherry-coloured manual roof, 17-inch black BBS alloys and sand leather furniture, door and dash trim. The cars will be finished in metallic Machine Grey exterior paint. To reinforce its exclusivity, each car will bear a numbered Z-Sport plaque on its dashboard.

Powered by the 2.0-litre SkyActiv-G 160ps petrol engine, the car features a limited slip differential, Bilstein dampers and a strut brace to ensure structural rigidity and enhance its dynamic sports car performance through the twisty bits.

This is the second MX-5 to revisit the Z-Sport moniker, the first being on the 2007 third-generation MX-5, of which only 400 units were available.

Jeremy Thomson, Managing Director Mazda Motors UK said, "We've had a long tradition of producing distinctive limited edition MX-5s that allow customers to drive a sports car with stand-out looks and enhanced equipment – and the Z-Sport is one of the best yet. The combination of the cherry red roof and Machine Grey Metallic paint make this one of the most exclusive looking MX-5s we've ever offered and we are sure it will be a very popular choice when it arrives in dealerships next March." - WG.
